52 WEEKS OF ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN HAS DESCENDED ACCIDENT LEVEL - RNP

It is at The afternoon of The 3rd January, where Rwanda Nation Police had a place conference which described their achievements in 2019 and its aims in 2020. This event took place in Rwanda National Police Headquarters at Kacyiru in Gasabo District.

By comparing previous years with 2019 where 52 weeks of Road Safety Campaign had launched, there is good result of decreasing of road accidents, whereby in 2018, 5611 accidents happened and 2019 had 4661 accidents which shows that 17% had reduced.

Mujiji Rafiki is the Commissioner of Police in Road and Street Safety Department said that there is still hope that this campaign will succeed.

“It is 34th week now, where 17% of accidents had reduced since the campaign was launched and this gives the biggest hope that high number of street accident will be decreased.” Mujiji said

The 2019 also had initiated the number of IT solutions where E-traffic ticketing, installation of speed enforcement cameras and establishment of online testing centers (computer based theoretical driving tests) had been brought up.
